Our Techniques

At Southern Pines Chiropractic Center we use a three tiered approach to your health.  We will address you structurally, nutritionally, and environmentally.

Structurally

Dr. Jessica uses a couple of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach I use is based on my judgment and years of experience.

Chiropractic adjusting technique.

At Southern Pines Chiropractic Center Dr. Jessica uses a wide variety of adjusting styles tailored to your specific needs.

First, an analysis of the spine is performed. This can initially involve a case history and X-ray pictures of the spine.

Subsequent visits may include motion palpation, with the chiropractor feeling the spinal joints move as you turn and bend. Or, a leg check may be performed, to uncover an imbalance in the neck or lower spine.

With the malposition of one or more spinal bones identified, a specific manual thrust is administered. The direction, speed, depth and angle that are used is the result of experience, practice and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics.

The energy delivered during the thrust may produce a slight “popping” sound from shifting gas and fluids in the joint. This sound may be interesting, but has little meaning as to the value and effectiveness of the adjustment.

While improving spinal biomechanics can reduce nervous system interferences, virtually all joints of the body can be adjusted to help restore proper range of motion.

We will then evaluate your nervous system function measuring heart rate, muscle tone, organ function and your body’s ability to bounce back from stress.  Take out the next two paragraphs at southern pines and First analysis of spine paragraph. Leave rest of verbiage.

Nutritionally
For patients that want to achieve a higher level of health we will begin to evaluate their nutritional habits.  Meal diaries are assessed and suggestions given to improve the bodies performance.  For more complicated health concerns we also offer saliva testing, hair analysis, and nutritional testing.

Environmentally
We also evaluate both your physical environment, but also your mental environment, what is holding you back from reaching you health goals.

If you’ve been to a chiropractor before and prefer to be adjusted in a particular way, let Dr. Jessica know. We want you to relax, enjoy and fully benefit from your chiropractic care.

Dr. Jessica Asks some important questions of interest to Pelham residents - Chiropractor Pelham Dr. Jessica Asks...

What is the purpose of pain?
Pain prompts many Pelham folks to begin chiropractic care. But pain isn't the problem! Pain is just how your body alerts you that a limit has been reached (or exceeded), that something isn't working right and that some type of change is needed. As a chiropractor, my job is finding the underlying cause and recommending the changes needed to bring your body back into balance.
What's a side effect?
It may sound like a bonus; something extra, but chiropractors know it should more accurately called an "unintended effect," and "unwanted effect" or in some cases an "adverse effect." A pill can't come close to matching your body's ability to create and deliver the essential compounds it needs. That's when it's important to make sure your nervous system is working correctly—the purpose of chiropractic care!
