Introducing Birmingham Chiropractor, Dr. Jenni Goodson

Mt. Laurel Office

My experience in healthcare goes from one end of the spectrum to the other.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from Auburn University and began my career as a pharmaceutical rep. Day-in and day-out I sat in waiting room after waiting room watching the patients cough and sneeze and complain to the front desk about how many hours they had been waiting. Some of them would even talk to me about their conditions and how they’ve tried this and that medication. And while their medication may have gotten rid of the symptoms they originally came in for, now they were coming back to get another treatment for side effects produced by the current medications they were taking. After hearing this so many times, I began to ask myself "What good are these medicines I’m selling if they’re really just making people sicker?"

As a patient myself, I had been seeking symptom relief since I was in my early teens. I had experienced terrible back and hip pain at an early age that flared up severely with my menstrual cycle. I can remember in high school being in tears because I was so uncomfortable sitting in my desk. I had x-rays, an MRI, consultations with doctors, and was told over and over, "Well we don’t see anything so there’s nothing we can do." I can remember how badly I wanted them to tell me something was wrong with me with the hopes that they could fix it. I was only in my 20’s and there had to be a better way of life out there for me to grab. Of course, this is where chiropractic comes in.

It was finally suggested to me to seek chiropractic care by a medical doctor. One thing led to another and before I knew it, I had turned in my two-week notice and was heading to Atlanta to become a part of the greatest profession in the world. Only when I got into chiropractic school and heard the countless testimonies from other people about their headaches, sinus problems, digestive issues, etc. that had all resolved as a result of chiropractic care, did I realize the magnitude of what we do. Chiropractic isn’t just a solution to a problem, it’s a way of life – the best way I know.

No matter what you are dealing with or going through right now, your quality of life can be improved with lasting results. It’s not a quick fix followed by a quick return of symptoms. It’s a life change. I believe each patient needs to be treated as the unique individual that they are. I look at every possible aspect of your health – nutrition, exercise, posture, rest, stress management, and spinal health. I believe in putting all this information together to treat your unique self as the living, breathing organism that you are.

Dr. Jessica Asks some important questions of interest to Pelham residents - Chiropractor Pelham Dr. Jessica Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
How long will you need chiropractic care?
You'll need chiropractic care as long as you live in Pelham and encounter physical, chemical or emotional stress that you cannot adapt to or accommodate. Ready to get started? Call our office today.
